   BREAD DAYS – THANKSGIVING FOR FRUITS OF THE LAND

   Initiator of the project is “Lijepa Naša” Association.

Bread Days - Thanksgiving for the fruits of the land - are celebrated each year during October in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. Thanks to the festivities of the Bread Day, with prayer, blessing and symbolic eating of bread, we thank God for all the fruits, joys, successes and gifts that we have been given as a people and as individuals throughout the year.

And in our school, all students from grades one through eight participated in the ceremony on the 18^th of October, 2019. There were several kinds of bread, several kinds of rolls, a few pastries, like buhtla (sweet bun filled with jam) or krafna (doughnut). Strudels, piroshki or sausage rolls were also on the tables. Over the years, pupils with their parents and grandparents have slowly been extending their selection, becoming more creative and ambitious in their bread-making. We received a bleesing from our priest and shared sweet breads and cakes.
