The European Day of Languages is on 26 September, as proclaimed by the Council of Europe on 6 December 2001, at the end of the European Year of Languages (2001), which had been jointly organised by the Council of Europe and the European Union. Its aim is to encourage language learning across Europe.

In our school we have marked it by making a Croatian-English-German food dictionary with illustrations made by pupils from grades 5-8, with the help from German teacher Denis Vujaklija and English teachers Mihaela Globan-Lisjak and Danijela Jakelić. We hope all the pupils in our school have learned some new words.
