Halloween is celebrated on 31st of October and is very popular in the USA and some other countries.
It's not popular in Croatia and Russia. On that day people dress up in scary or silly costumes and go „Trick or treating“. It is believed that Halloween started from the All Hollows' Day, which is the day after the 31st of October, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Over time Halloween evolved into a day of activities like „trick- or -treating „ and carving “Jack – o- lanterns”. Jack – o – lanterns are carved pumpkins, but first jack – o – lanterns were turnips. Children love to dress up in scary costumes like witches, ghosts and vampires.
